For the past three years,
Walk Wisconsin has financially supported the walking program for 3rd
and 4th graders at Roosevelt Elementary School in Plover.
Teachers there developed a “walking” curriculum that involves
wearing pedometers, counting steps, learning about nutrition and
walking their way around the world.
In addition to supporting the purchase of pedometers and educational
materials, Walk Wisconsin with other sponsors has supported a
t-shirt contest for all the students. One student’s design was
picked and transferred to shirts for all the participants. In
addition to their program during the school year, dozens of the
Roosevelt students and their family members participate in Walk
Wisconsin activities.
