2026 Event Changes
Hello Participants, Volunteers and other interested readers!
For those who are familiar with Walk Wisconsin (or have looked through our past informational posts) we wanted to call out some changes to the course and overall event for 2026.
Add-On Items: This year we are having water bottles and bags as add-on items that you can purchase during registration.
T-shirts are still part of registration, up to the cut-off date.
Having these as optional items allows us to keep our registration costs lower and reduce excess waste. We will have limited amounts available day of the event for purchase.Cup Less Event: In keeping with the spirit of conservation, waste reduction, and respecting the residents/communities surrounding the trail, this is a cup less event. What that means is we strongly encourage purchasing or bringing your own water bottle to have with you during your walk as our water stations will not have disposable cups to use.
Course Changes: We are excited to hear about the Plover River Crossing project that will connect the east and west sides of Stevens Point and the Town of Hull (more info). To accommodate that project we have slightly adjusted the Full Marathon course near the 1/2 way spot. Last year participants entered at the trail head on Hofmeister Drive, this year they will connect up with the trail on East Maria Drive & Barbara’s Lane. This change required us to get creative elsewhere to ensure we maintain the appropriate distance. In Plover, we plan to have participants walking Porter Road directly to Hoover Ave instead of meandering the neighborhood over near Kubacki Park.
NOTE: Course adjustments subject to change based on any other pending road or trail work. We do our best to stick to the routes once published in the year’s Participant Guides.
For all distances, we also re-routed the course around Lake Joanis from last year to utilize the newly installed boardwalks that were under construction during our event (we know some of you missed that section from previous years’ events).
