FAQ

Based on feedback we acquired from the 2025 event, here are some frequently asked or commented items. As more questions come up we will add them here.

Is this a closed course? - It is not; due to it being a public trail system, and because we always want to encourage the use of our trail systems. The Green Circle trail remains open to the general public. This means you may encounter bikers, other walkers (with dogs, strollers, etc.)

How will I know which way to go? Each distance will be specified by a certain color arrow.
Green = Full Marathon; Blue = Half Marathon; Red= Quarter Marathon.
As the routes merge, you will see each color represented to ensure all participants can follow their respective arrows. Note: They may be spaced out to ensure visibility and all courses follow the same route once they merge.

Should I bring Bug Spray? If you would like to, yes. We will have bug spray at rest stops throughout the walk just in case but cannot guarantee when those buggers will show up along your walk.

Is this the same organization as before? It is not, however we did acquire much of their information and have a former Active Portage County member who is happily providing some insight and input to assist us with ensuring the event keeps the same energy that many know and love.

Will there be food at the end? Absolutely! While 2025 was not what many former participants remember, we have already reached out and will be working with some local restaurants to provide more food at the park.

Can the halfway for Full Marathon be more substantial? Yes, we are working on making the half way point a better celebration of accomplishment, and allowing more room for those who need to rest/refuel their bodies to finish the final 13.

Why are the bags and bottles no longer included in the registration?‍ ‍
In our research, we’ve found many people typically don’t use the bottles and/or bags that are given out as they often bring their own. Since a big part of our organization’s mission is about sustainability and being eco-conscious it was determined that we could reduce our footprint, and avoid any significant increases to the registration costs by making these as optional add ons with higher quality products to allow participants to make their own choice.
